At the VEF Riga Electrotechnical Plant, the elegant VEF Super M-557 network tube radio receiver, the first post-war “folk” radio receiver with decorative elements, was launched into the series.
The prototype for it was the pre-war radio Vefsuper M 517, which was produced at the Riga plant even before Latvia became part of the USSR. The first, still non-Soviet model, was produced on red lamps `` Philips '' and had the ranges: LW: 150 ... 450 kHz; SW: 518 ... 1520 kHz; HF: 5.85 ... 18.4 MHz.
Since 1945, the scheme of the radio wave range has undergone at least 4 changes - as relations with the capitalist countries cooled, the receiver received new restrictions on the reception of radio frequencies.
The receiver has a very good sound and interesting appearance - a round dial and three metal bars evoke the idea of ​​retro cars. WEF Super M-557 is especially popular among collectors .
