This is a authentic antique sterling silver bowl, hallmarked as being manufactured in London England in 1801, that is beautiful and is in excellent condition in light of the fact that it is over 217 years old.
All of the photographs within this listing are of the actual item that you will receive, and no “photograph color editing” or “photograph enhancement“ was utilized within any of the photographs within this listing.
We believe that the photographs speak for themselves with respect to the beauty and with respect to the excellent condition of this antique London sterling silver bowl commensurate with its very old antique age.
The London silver hallmarks can clearly be seen within the photographs within this listing: This is a George III silver bowl hallmarked as being manufactured in London in the year 1801 by Christopher & Thomas Wilkes Barker (silversmiths).
This antique sterling silver bowl is engraved with the crest and motto “Virtue et Labore”, of the Cochran family of Aberdeen.
The interior surface of this antique sterling silver bowl has a light “gold wash” finish.
The size of this bowl is approximately 2-1/4” inches tall, and approximately 4-1/2” wide at the very top of the bowl. The bowl weighs approximately 6.4 troy ounces.
Generally and overall, the surfaces of this antique 217+ year old London sterling silver bowl exhibit age and patina.
Upon very close inspection, there are some very minute micro spots representing minimal interior gold wash surface finish loss at the very bottom of the interior surface of the bowl (see photo #6 of 10 photos). Upon very close inspection, there are some very tiny and scattered exterior surface silver milk spots located at the lower exterior outer surface of the bowl (see photo #9 of the 10 photos). In our view, we find that these perfectly age appropriate tiny micro conditions can only be seen under very close inspection, are not distracting in any way, and are generally not visible to the naked eye under normal lighting and viewing conditions. We mention these perfectly age appropriate tiny micro conditions in the interest of completeness.
There are no significant blemishes, no splits, no gouges, no previous monogram removal or previous engraving removal, and no repairs. This very old antique sterling silver bowl does not exhibit any sort of unusual “condition issues” or unusual wear in the context of its very old antique age. There is of course extremely tiny natural micro wear from past gentle silver polishing, and from past gentle, respectful, and responsible use.
We believe that the photographs speak for themselves with respect to the beauty, and with respect to the excellent condition commensurate with very old antique age, of this hallmarked London 1801 antique sterling silver bowl.
