Description
Up for sale is a very nice set of Binoculars used by a German officer in the Afrika Korps and the Italian theatre. These dienstglas are in great condition, some spots of paint missing here and there. But nothing major at all. They do still work and are fairly clear still, usually these older binoculars tend to fog up, but not these. The right lense is also a range finder. The remarkable thing about these glasses is that there is the name is “Wilkins” carved into them. Personally I would guess that a British officer “captured” these from a surrendering German officer during the desert war and used them himself, and carved his name into them. The strap would also suggest that a non German used them since these cloth straps are very British in manufacture, while the original strap would have been leather by German manufacture.
Overall these binoculars are truly amazing and will highlight that DAK tunic in your collection!
