The block heater turns on automatically when the coolant temperature drops to 38 degrees C (100 degrees F). The heater turns off when the coolant temperature reaches 49 degrees C (120 degrees F). The Kohler 38RCL generator set engine comes equipped with valves that eliminate the need to drain the cooling system before installing the block heater.
