NOTE: I have for several months recieved emails in questioning as to other repair centers or those who consider themselves competition. Simply put, why is this or that done differently?. Remember one of our beloved issues with Ensoniq gear has been their power supplies and heat dissipation. So, with this being said, if you repair or have repair a power supply from another place, the capicitors should not be placed back on the surface touching. There should be an inch or more rise from the bottom of the cap to the main board to allow heat to escape better and cooling quicker. Also, with time, if a cap opens up and leaks out the bottom in which they do, there is likely to be less damage with the technique that I have developed and used for Ensoniq gear for over 30 years now. Also, another question that is frequently asked is you see the advertising of "Low ESR" capicitors! In a power supply, this means simply "nothing" and I mean zero! What should be is the correct upgrade from 85 degree temp cap to a 105 degree cap. Low ESR caps only play a role in the serial ripple path of the output amp chips circuit.
